Welcome to Highland Counseling Services.

Hi there, I'm Jen.

I'm a Mom, a Veteran, and a divorcée.

I'm experienced with life-changing trauma, narcissistic abuse recovery, relationship issues, neurodivergence, and more.

I enjoy working with individual adults, couples, and families to improve communication and connection, and facilitate healing.

"I have been struggling with suicide due to difficulties of fatherhood and a hurting marriage.  Jen has been helping me keep it all together and focus on the here and now.  I always leave each appointment feeling better and like I can actually do this thing called life.  I'm grateful for her."

Services

I offer unconditional support and positive regard as well as tools and validation.  My job is to see you, hear you and help you.  It is my honor and privilege to do so.

Please click the link below for more details about the types of sessions I currently offer.

My Approach

I approach therapy from an attachment lens.  This means, that I believe that as humans, we are all wired for connection, and that the quality of our connections (both to our inner selves, and to others) are the key to our happiness and quality of life.

I am also what is called a humanistic counselor.  As such, I think we are all humans, doing our best in the world, with the tools that we have and the traumas we carry.  Because of this, I feel many parts of therapy need to be catered to what works best for each person.  As my client you'll find that I use a combination of tools and approaches to meet each client where they are, and to help them get to where they'd like to go.

Some of my favorite types of therapeutic approaches are:

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy

  • Attachment Theory

  • Gottman Methods

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Internal Family Systems Therapy
